What Does God Want for Our Kids?

This past weekend, the Intelligencer Journal, a Lancaster paper, featured an article about the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding. Written by Elizabeth Eisenstadt-Evan, the article describes the work of CPYU and why, as a mother, she appreciates the ministry.

Good press! Thank-you for bringing it to my attention as I haven't gotten to the paper, and probably won't as there is much else taking my attention.

Have you read Christian Smith's The challenge of emerging adulthood in the new issue of Books and Culture? Excellent. The conclusion is a inspiration to ongoing research/conversation:

I am not suggesting there are clear and easy answers here. But it is worth remembering that a church that is not much different from the larger culture is going to have little distinctive or helpful to offer that culture when it comes to issues such as those posed by emerging adulthood. By grappling with emerging adulthood, then, we face the opportunity not so much for criticizing and lamenting others as for some good, hard, self-critical reflection and discussion.
